Being a visually oriented person, I’ve always enjoyed looking at the world through a lens and finding creative ways to create or capture a moment that could be preserved for others to experience.
My fascination with photography began early in my life and I credit that to my grandfather, whose love and knowledge of taking pictures and working with cameras was a strong influence on me. It didn’t take long for me to be bitten by the photography bug. Throughout high school and college it was not uncommon to find me taking pictures, working in my home darkroom, or making short films.
After graduating from New York University’s Film School, I relocated to Los Angeles, where I stepped into a career in film & television, producing, directing and editing a wide variety of projects from independent feature films to movie trailers to documentaries and reality / non-fiction television. But my passion for photography continued to be a part of my life, both as a personal hobby and shooting photos for friends and family. Over the past 15 years I have also developed a love for model aviation and flying remote-controlled aircraft. It wasn’t until I was approached by a real estate agent to produce videos for properties they were representing that I saw an opportunity to combine and express my passion for film/video production, r/c aviation and photography and make it part of my professional life. I recently launched Scott Popjes Real Estate Photography to make that happen.
